My wife's 2004 Prius's multi-disk CD player ceased to play CD's today :( . It will accept cd's but will not play them. Instead it gives you an "ERROR" message. Any ideas for a fix? :)

try unpluging it overnight, though disc changers tend not to be too reliable... Good excuse to get an ipod adapter installed

Does the ipod adapter simply plug into one of the un used ports in the back of the changer (04/05)? What exactly would I be looking for? My six changer gives an error message as well.

If you end up with a broken stereo I'd highly recommend looking into a new deck. The entry level Kenwood Excelon stuff (KDC-X491 and up) is pretty nice. The new units will play MP3s as well as accept a USB flash drive. Pick up a 4GB flash drive ($20-$40) and dump 700+ songs onto it and leave it in your glove box. It works quite well and you never have to deal with CDs.

The new stereo should fit into the lower compartment below your existing stereo and with the smoked hatch covering it, it would be quite stealthy. The new stereo will also have nice features like a high-pass filter to filter out low bass, better sound quality, and the ability to hook up bluetooth phones. If you have an iPod you can get the adapter for that as well and control the unit through the stereo without having to ever touch the iPod except to turn it on or off.

This is if you don't have the "upgraded" 9-spkr Nav system.

I do have the navigation system. That means the factory radio has to be installed for the nav system to run and for the air conditioning to work. It is all networked together. I really would like to find an aftermarket solution.
