After going through the yoga training better known as the Prius Gen III oil filter change, I looked ahead to see what other surprises the Gen III had for me. Here are some notes:

The hood support rod was moved from the car's left side to the right side. This was to allow critical access to the Master Brake Fluid Tank, which is now a two handed operation. First UNHOOK the foam weatherstrip end connected to the plastic panel. The following picture shows the rip you will make if you do not know this.

Now use the two hands to unlatch each side of the removable panel to add fluid.

Then, I discovered that when you go to add coolant to the coolant tank, the support rod does a pretty good job of blocking the fill cap.....but at least the engineers provided an alternate spot to move the rod to the left enough to get a hose or nozzle lined up. It may not look like much, but it is a huge difference since most folks come around from the side of the car and going under the rod is not really possible.

Thanks for the info. I am glad that Toyota put that little door on top of the brake fluid. :mod:
