Good news for those who hope to be early adopters of new PHV and Electric cars! from San Jose Mercury:
Race is on to build electric vehicle charging stations

"Electric vehicles are no longer a technology of the future. Californians will be driving the Nissan Leaf and Coda Sedan by the end of the year, and several other automakers have all-electric and plug-in hybrid models in the pipeline.
Now the race is on to build electric vehicle charging stations, where drivers can pull up and plug in their cars.
Several companies, including Coulomb Technologies in Campbell, Better Place in Palo Alto and ClipperCreek in Auburn, see enormous opportunity in the development of electric-vehicle infrastructure.
"Now that the world has decided this is a business, everyone wants in," said Richard Lowenthal, Coulomb's co-founder and CEO, who first drove an electric car when he served as mayor of Cupertino. "We need charging stations. That's our business.""

SOCAL Beach Area Charging Stations-Huntington Beach underway:
I received this reply from the HB City Council re EV Charging Station question:
"The EV Charging Stations project experienced several delays in the process, but we are happy to inform you that it is still underway and Huntington Beach will have several locations on the charging maps soon. Stations at Bella Terra parking structure, Main St. Promenade parking structure, and beach parking near the Lifeguard Headquarters have been installed and will be provisioned in the next 2 weeks. Another station is planned for City Hall and should be installed by June. We appreciate your patience with this project and look forward to providing convenient charging options for plugin electric vehicle owners in Huntington Beach."
