Purchased a used 2005 Prius with 30,000 on the clock. Have put 5,000 miles on the car with no problems. Recently the check engine light came on and my Scan Gauge indicated a trouble code of "P0000". Cleared the code and four days and 500 miles later the check engine light returned with the same code. Any suggestions as to the problem? Car runs great even with the light on. Have check the fuel cap which was and is tight. Thanks

That code is gneric and means "no codes present" which means your Scangauge is not able to identify that particular code that threw the CEL.

I think you may need dealer software to pull that code. Someone will weigh in later with more info.

But are you experiencing any driveablility issues?

A few things come to mind given the age of the car. Throttle bore cleaning for sure.

The Inverter coolant pump is always an issue. With car in "Ready" and the cap to the inverter coolant container removed do you see good movement of the red coolant in the container.

And last but not least the little boot battery in the trunk if original is highly suspect. Here's the simple test to use to check it:
