Chicagoland Meet-up: Sun Sept. 17, 2006

A meet-up where I don't show off my Prius and I sit down to eat food!?! OK, I'll try it out.

Well, everybody have a the date set on the 17th. Place is still unknown, but keep the 17th for lunch open! I guess I should have just listed a restaurant and not given choices out. To make it easy I have narrowed it down to 2 places. They are both in the north, so plan on driving up that way. Maggiano’s (Italian) or Pappadeaux (Canjun brunch).

 

Ha - I don't think of Schaumburg or Arlington Heights as north... They are both a good 45 minutes southwest of me.

I'll think about it...but I don't really feel like I know anyone well enough online to meet them offline.

 

Finalized! The date will be September 17 at 2:00 PM. The place will be in Schaumberg, IL at Maggiano's Little Italy restaurant. Meezercat come on down south, Tony is pretty much harmless, and the rest of us are really nice people-haven't found a bad apple yet.

Remember the 17th everyone. Good Italian food, check out the other hybrids, look at the plug from mikel52's Classic (block heater). Remember if you really need to go to the Eli's Cheescake Festival go on Saturday the 16th, keep Sunday for your Prius.

Meezercat come on down. You can't be any farther north in Illinois than I am in Antioch.

 

Just to add a little enticement, I am going to have, for your visual and tactal pleasure, the Toyota engine block heaters for both the Classic and current Prius, courtesy of Jesse of Metro Toyota. I am sure if your all nice that mikel 52 will open the hood of his Classic to see his installed block heater. I am also bringing my winter grill block kit to show how to keep the chill off the engine. Also, I will be bringing a sample of the extra large oil filter I have posted that I now use to compare to the Toyota filter. And, to keep me from staying in the parking lot talking about the Prius to everyone, my wife is coming to lead me to the table to eat some lunch.

I didn't go but I heard (via cleanmpg.com) that ~ 18 people attended. Although there was only a reservation for 12 at the restaurant! Things got worked out.
Some of the Milwaukee Hybrid Group guys came down and hung out as well.
Anyway, it sounds like a fun time was had by all.

Not sure when the next get together will be, but if you are up towards Madison in October,, there's going to be a meeting up there. We will have a Saturn VUE Hybrid presentation as part of the meeting as well other stuff.

I'm jealous. The northeasterners apparently aren't nearly that
organized. Hopefully they'll at least make it to Altwheels
next weekend and hang out with me and the rest of the crew a little.
