I mentioned about clear wrapping the hood and roof of my car and now want to give my thoughts after about a year and half of this.

    1. Clear wrap is made of vinyl and vinyl will turn yellow. After about 6 months the wrap will start to show it's yellow.

    2. Wrapping the hood was simple less than 30 min. Wrapping the roof took more time about 1 hr. Removing the wrap from the hood was simple, especially when the hood was still warm. Removing the wrap from the roof after giving it a car wash, was not simple. A cold roof made the adhesive more difficult to remove and required a blow dryer. Looking back it was better to remove it when the roof is hot from being outside.

There was no bubble issues, since all the bubble clear away on their own usually after 2 weeks.

I'm not sure if I want to continue wrapping the roof because of time involved. The hood I would like to continue to keep wrap to protect from rock chipping, etc. This usually means changing it at least once a year because of yellowing. Applying it takes 30 min and removing it same. Cost of the wrap usually $20. I went with generic brand. In the future I may try Vvivid brand wraps to see if yellowing is less. I also wrap the head lights.

Hood and headlight on this pic shown with clear wrap.

This utuber clear wrapped her Model 3. I wonder if she has to face the same yellowing.

Any wrappers, please give some tips!

I would go for a higher quality paint protection film like XPEL. It’ll last longer around 5-10 years and will not turn yellow.

I had a clear wrap out in the front of the wife’s 2017 RX450h last August and it still looks good:

As @m3pare stated above, a high quality wrap lasts longer;).

Looks better than the black bra I have in our Prius :
