Clear protective tape on interior of car door?

    I bought my car new, but on the driver side door there is some clear protective tape on the lower front of the door--it's actually pretty good because i sometimes use my foot to push open the door and it has prevented scuffs. I want to buy more for the other doors, but I have no idea what it is. Scotchguard tape or something? I can only find tape that you'd put on the outside of the car door to save the edges, but this is different.

    Anyone have any clue what i am talking about? I've already scotchguard sprayed the interior Bisque fabric, but I want to prevent shoe marks on the interior of the doors so any help is appreciated.

    It is allegedly strategically placed to protect the covered areas from having the paint chipped by road debris.

    I have no idea what it is but when you find out I would appreciate if you will let us know. I would like to have some to put around my interior door handle when I take my car to a garage for service to keep the workers from getting my door dirty. Is your tape affixed to fabric or vinyl? I just wonder if it can be applied to both vinyl and fabric.

    No, this is on the interior of the car, not the exterior.
    I will be going by Auto Zone this week to find out what it is. WIll post back.

    Affixed to the plastic. I sprayed scotchguard on the fabric already.

    I would think it's the same stuff auto detailer's use to cover the carpet after they finish detailing. I'm sure dealers will know what that stuff is called as all the used cars have them

    There's some clear plastic film on the lower rear corners of rear doors, and adjacent area of body, but that's all, on ours.

    It's probably some protective that was really suppose to be removed before selling the vehicle.
    But if it is of value and you like it?
    That's a win/win.
