Ok..some of you may remember me.. I'm the guy that have the 15 or so pages on the fact that my wife would not "let me" get a Prius...

Don't want to start that one over again.. just wanted to let all of you know.. after an accident with my beloved Frontier.. the frame may be messed up.. which may cause me to never be able to get my front alignment fixed (so the dealership tells me, and they have been pretty good to me over the years). It is a 2002 Nissan Frontier that I have loved.. and has done very, very well for me with 70+ miles so far..

I'm heading to the dealership (Nissan) to see what the verdict is.. if it is such that the alignment will never be right, and I will be burning through tires..

I will be headed to the Toyota Dealership to look at a 2010 Prius II..

I figure I can get a good deal on it, and besides.. I'll probably end up trading it in for what I think I really want- the 2012 PHV!!!

    Fire away....

Good luck Coach, I hope it all works out for you. Will you be leasing a 2010 (24 month) or purchasing? If you haven't already, do take a look at the package IV. I didn't much care for the texture of the steering wheel on the package III I test drove (I liked the leather wrapped wheel better). I suppose I could have had the entire interior done on the car (leather seats, wrap on steering wheel, and cover on the center arm rest), but just wanted to get it, drive it, and forget about it.

Good luck again! As far as getting a 2010, the timing is pretty darn good. I hope you get the color (exterior and interior) that you want.

Thanks Cody! I'm actually kinda hoping that somehow the old truck can hang on until my PHV comes out... but we'll see.

My attitude right now is.. I just want one to "Hold me over" until the PHV comes out.. that is the car I want.. I've never leased before.. I would welcome any experienced leasers input...

Just get one. Keep the truck for when you need a truck. Best of both worlds.

no 'firing away' there Coach. my wife and I got our 2010 Prius II about 3 weeks ago and LOVE IT! we (she.....you can relate, I'm sure) chose the Blue Ribbon Metallic which IS a great color.

we were very happy with our deal, trading in her 05 Saturn Ion, and love our dealer, O'Brien Toyota in Indy.

good luck with your search.......if it comes to that! ;)

    Coach,

Welcome back, it's good to hear from you again.

How did the football season finish up... a championship game?

It's sad to hear about your beloved Frontier. I hope you get good, or at
    least acceptable news there..

Did you get any of the cold temps/snow/ice that pushed into the deep
south recently? Oops, that might be linked to you truck problem...

If it comes to geting a Prius, have you considered getting a pre-owned
Gen II, maybe an '08-'09? One with ~50K miles should come in at $15-
18K. It would introduce you to the joys/intricacies of high MPG driving
at a much lower cost that a new one. On the other hand, the info
displays and operating algorithms changed significantly in the Gen III
and they'll be very similar in the PHEV, I expect. So, I'm going to punt
    that one to you. ;)

Whether you go used or new, don't think that you're tied to your local
dealer or area. There are dealers :(, and there are dealers :). Find one
you feel good about. Using the internet, I found our car at the right
price ~400 miles from home. Started the return trip in freeezing temps
    with snow falling.

I bought our beloved Amapola at this time three years ago, Dec. 27, to
be exact. There were three things pushing us: a small accident that
rendered the trunk non-watertight, gas prices were heading to $3/gal,
and a sales tax and licensing fee increase at the new year. (My story
on the pleasant ordeal is here.) I had been looking for a month or so.

Please keep us updated on how things work out.

Thanks for all the comments.. and interest.. I am somewhat pleased to say the Frontier has been fixed!!! I have to confess, I did a ton of final research.. and was VERY, VERY excited about the prospect of getting the Prius.

But I am thankful that the ole Frontier will hold up a bit longer.. I will continue to save.. and research..

    Thanks again everyone!

You still with the old lady? ;)

What you need to do is buy a Prius pronto. It's clear that even a few months later you still have a burning desire for the thing.

yea, I agree....but at what expense? personally, I would continue to dream of the Prius and drive the Frontier than have an IRON SKILLET up the side of my head!

Good luck Coach! Where are you shopping Houma Toyota? Or, are you going to shop in NOLA, BR, etc.? I really, really love my II!!! It's tough to find a Prius in this area that isn't loaded up with silly port options, but there are a few out there.

Having read many of your posts I think you need to just bite the bullet and get a 2010 and be a beacon among your fuel drunk friends that there are other ways to live :)

I love the idea of keeping a truck...for when you need the tool...and having a Prius, for everything else....

But if your Nissan has frame damage? It isn't worth keeping. You will burn through tires, your gas mileage will decrease..it can lead to a world of other problems...

If you ultimate goal is the Plug In? Well, you can decide whehter you think the Nissan Frontier can make it until it's release....but long term, if you have frame damage, as much as I like the idea of a Prius and a Truck...I'd NOT keep a frame damaged vehicle.
