The Prius already has a display screen standard in every model. The video interface we have created can be used to upgrade a base model with a variety of video and aftermarket navigation solutions or to add video features to the fully equipped versions.

Regardless of the screen type, the video interface will be a plug-in installation with no wires to cut or solder.

I'm not following - is this just something that will plug into the back of the existing display in the car, or a whole new display in addition to (or replacing?) the one installed now?

The unit simply plugs into our current monitor.. all toyota are reletively the same. So, the nav inputs should be the same. I simply like the layout of the screen in that pic. Looks like the same software even.. but the flush buttons are nice. I was wondering what car that sytem is out of.

It looks like a combination NAV/FM/CD unit that fits in a double DIN opening. Could be an option on any number of their cars.

I really just want AUX/MP3 input without a lot of hassles, so if that comes with video input, fine. The backup camera idea is just an idea: tunes matter more...

Agreed. I just want to be able to use my iPod for audio. Audio and video would be nice, but if the video part was significantly more expensive and I had the option to get audio only, I'd go for the latter.

And I have no interest in spending the cash on the NAV system. I REALLY hope there will be a way to add an audio input to the non-NAV setup.

OTOH, my sis has the backup camera in her Lexus. VERY useful. She also has the NAV, but I can do without it.

I think I'm missing something... all I see is the name of you guys' photos, but nothing clickable or viewable. What am I missing here (besides photos)?

Starbug, I think you have to set your firewall or ad-blocker to allow banner ads. You should be able to do this for one site (i.e. PriusChat) without allowing them across the board. Apparently PC (and other similar discussion boards) display pictures the same way as banner ads are displayed, so your ad-blocker blocks them out.

Whoa, I had no idea that they were doing that! I'll go dig into my firewall and see about allowing only PC to display "banners". Thanks for the tip, Daniel. :)

Nevermind showing Jim Carry movies when I'm trying to drive. The ideal would be to set it up so it would display a thermal IR camera display in forward and a rear view camera in reverse. Raytheon has a retrofit automotive thermal IR camera available...

Alan: yes, according to the above postings, and Costal's web page, the video mod will work on both NAV and Standard versions of the MFD.

Kenmce: What do you want a thermal IR camera for? So you can see the temperature of the exhaust of the car in front of you?

That would be nice... even though the HID's do work very well.. more for show off purposes for me.. but, it would still be helpful on some roads, depending on the distance of the camera

    Review Camera / Back-up sensor

Sorry but I mis-spelled the "review" word it should have said rear view camera.
Has anyone put a rear view camera into their 04 Prius?

    What about back-up sensor?

In NYC you don't need a camera of any type to see exhaust; just look out the window :)

Also, once you put in a cam it use is endless.
