Long story short... red triangle, ABS, check engine all came on... had someone come diagnose and had codes C1310 and C1241 come up. 12v replaced two months ago and checked. Person put in two other batteries as one cell was slightly lower than others... just to see if that would fix it. Codes cleared. Drove short distance. Came up again. He couldn’t help with if it was ABS system... car sat for three days and codes were off... got
Towed to other mechanic, codes didn’t come back up or warning ⚠️ Lights. Mechanic said no codes came up.

Drive home at 70 mph about ten miles. Lights and codes still stay off.... what am
I missing? Should I drive it? Wait until lights come back?

also, i would report the 12v test here. many people don't know what 'good' is.

or perhaps the 70mph drive charged it up a bit.

C1241 = low 12V battery. RECHARGE w/ an AGM compatible battery charger; look for AGM setting. Regular 12V charger will NOT fully recharge an AGM battery.

C1310 = Malfunction in HV system. Techstream would retireve subcodes; and C1310 would have subcodes. Those shops/mechanics definitely aren't using Techstream, or they didn't provide you with subcodes.

    1) Module swaps do NOT provide you with a reliable repair for the HV (High Voltage) battery. Cheap, yes. Reliable, no.
If you plan to keep the car for a while, you may want to rethink your HV repairs.

    2) If codes have been cleared and the problem still exists, you will see warning lights and then be able to retrieve any codes.

    3) Get Techstream or go home.
Techstream is the OFFICIAL diagnostic and maintenance software made for Toyota/Lexus, and used at Toyota/Lexus dealerships. Bluetooth OBD2 readers and all the various apps for smartphones/tablets are convenient (small and portable) but junk: LIMITED code reading ability (can't read ALL codes) and can NOT do any maintenance (bleed brakes, engine compression check, activate CHRS pump, etc). Why waste money on a toy that limits what you can read and can't do maintenance?

"But I don't DIY." Getting the codes read at a Toyota dealership will set you back $100+. The cost of the hacked Techstream from Amazon will pay for itself.

Get mini VCI w/ Techstream from Amazon ($18+). Doesn't matter who you buy from, as the cables likely come from the same one or two suppliers from panda land. May have to return/buy a few, as some cables have problems. Installation easiest on a Windows 32bit OS (XP, Vista, 7). Ask friends/family if they know someone in IT, as this person will likely have obsolete laptops laying around, and might be able to donate for free. B/C the software is hacked, recommended to install on a spare laptop; do not use this laptop for sensitive information (log in & passwords: email, bill payments, etc). This laptop is now your Toyota/Lexus diagnostic laptop. Mac install possible, you just need to search online.

Should you stop driving a Toyota/Lexus, you can easily sell your Techstream laptop set-up here. Private Sales | PriusChat
