I'm ditching my small SUV in favor of something much more fuel efficient. I live in Portland, OR, so pretty calm driving conditions in moderate temps. I'm looking at a 2008 model with 125,000 miles. I have read several threads and articles about battery replacement and the cars lasting easily to 200,000. My question is, how much life can I expect to get out a 2008 beyond 200,000? I'd like this car, priced near $10,000, to last at least to 275,000. I am smack in the average for mileage, too, about 28 miles a day and about 13,000/year.

Thanks for any insight and help.

The HV traction battery in the 2008 most likely will not last another 10 years, which at 255,000 miles will still be 20,000 miles short of your 275,000 mile goal if you drive only 13,000 miles per year.

welcome to priuschat! hard to give a range of reliability without hard numbers. but if i had to guess, i'd say you have a 75% chance of making it to 275,000 without any four figure repairs. all the best!(y)
