Hello, I'm a new member and am considering whether or not to buy a 2005 prius with 133000 mi. Should I have any concerns or look for anything specifically before I buy the car?

If you are serious about buying the car, have the car inspected at your local Toyota dealer. It's worth paying for an hour or two of labor time to see what's wrong.

Also, note that since the car is probably out of warranty (except to the extent the 150K mile hybrid warranty applies to your car), if you have any drivetrain problems count on a four-digit repair bill at your friendly local dealer.

Thank you all for your quick responses. The guy sold it, he had it listed for $9900 and it sold in 1 day. My search continues.

Thanks Patrick. Are all years pretty good. My budget is limited, $10000 and my insurance company totaled my civic. I would like to stick with an 04,05 what do you think?

I would consider it if you were closer, like with in an hours drive. My insurance company totalled my civic and I need a good car asap.

MFD= Multi Function Display. I would imagine that poster had his updated due to issues in early builds that model year. Ironically I haven't had any issues but I am hoping I do. My extended warranty ends in one year and 2 months.
