Been having problems with rough engine idle and rattling sound at cold start. Already cleaned the throttle body replaced the plugs and even cleaned the fuel injectors although I'm not sure that I did that effectively. Now when driving under light loads I'm hearing this low pitched purring sound. I have had Coolant control valve codes for quite some time now but just ignored it thinking it's not related to engine performance. Then I ran across this article attached. Any chance this could be my problem?

Your car needs a good tune up. Check plugs, coils, injectors. rough idle isn't really a coolant valve symptom

If you have a check engine light on (or any warning light on), you would need to read the engine codes. No article can help in guessing what the problem can be

Have you checked, or cleaned up the VVT filter?

114k miles shouldn't really display any bad symptoms. Are your plug replacements with Denso or NGK branded plugs? P1121 is actually a warranty item in CA, it's covered by the emissions warranty 15 years or 150k miles, whichever comes first. Since you have a 2005, the warranty has ended for this but it would have been in effect if you had this issue before the 15 years was up.

I would replace the engine coolant valve first and get rid of the check engine light. If you're looking to maybe sell your car, I would be interested in buying it. Please email me at [email protected]

Thanks it's my daughter's car I'm trying to undo what shoddy mechanics did to it for the last 10 years and then there's the stolen catalytic converter and the HV battery failure.
