What are some of the costs to have a 2010 Prius turned into a plug-in Prius?
I definitely don't want to attempt this on my own. I want a professional to do it.

There are some conversion systems emerging for the 2010. I'm hoping to have a detailed comparison available soon that combines all the data into one spreadsheet. I'll post it on this forum when I have it ready.

    Hi GreenGuy,
I have a 2010 with the Enginer 4kwhr system but I am on the West coast.

    Go to the Enginer forum
    http://www.enginer.us/forum/index.php
Rocketmaker is on the East coast and he just completed an install on a 2010.

    Thanks,
    Dan Lander

You know, I honestly didn't know that the systems had come down so much in price.

Hmm... now I wish I had off-street parking/a garage, so I could plug my Pri in somewhere...

Cheap Enginer kit for $3000 or so. With that money you can buy enough gas to drive the prius regularly 3-4 years. Is that worth it to you?

I WISH i only spent $750 a year on petrol, right now i'm spending $3,000 PER YEAR. with my old car that was $4,700 so the prius has helped a lot, but i want to spend less!

haha yeah i feel for you. gasoline in the UK is so expensive.
    i hear its $9-10/gallon??

Our $780/year average is calculated on 15,000 miles driven a year at $2.80 a gallon and 50mpg combined.

Last time i filled it was 119.9p per litre. 3.79 litres in an american gallon, that's £4.54. Todays rates are $1.56 per £1, so only $7.08 a gallon this week. It just makes me laugh whenever i see "The Hybrid premium never gets paid back" and now its all about the plugin premium never being paid back.

I was in Japan recently and although the gas prices seem to have moderated (somewhat) the Yen <--> dollar exchange rate also plays a factor.

    Gas costs were 131 yen/liter ... 3.785 (gallon/litre) x 131 (cost / litre) / .85 (exchange rate) = $5.83 /gallon. Not as high as in the EU, but easily $2.00 higher than the US.

...and to think that the exchange rate used to be 365 yen /1 dollar.

1.45 euros per liter to dollars per gallon ->
1.45 (Euros per liter) = 7.05755958 U.S. dollars per US gallon
    (from Google calculator)

    In here...
