the Prius and Prius Prime missed out on the higher Top Safety Pick Plus award because of their headlight ratings.

I wish they went into the nitty gritty details. A few words summarizing the ranking didn't satisfy my curiosity much.
I wonder if there's any YouTube videos about it

Here's nitty gritty from IIHS. Looks like headlights were inadequate on left curves:

Is it possible to adjust the aim of headlights to improve the left side illumination distance? Maybe it just needs to be tilted up a bit?

I do not know. Perhaps consult your firestarter user manual.

The manual is not much help (see below). Really what would be interesting to know is if the problem is that the left headlamp is aimed too low from the factory. Perhaps there is room to aim it up a bit without blinding oncoming drivers.

According to pages 637 & 638 of the manual, there are 2 vertical adjustment knobs per headlight which should be turned the same amount whenever a change is made. There is no specification given for how high to aim the headlights. I wonder what part of the headlight each knob corresponds to. Is one for the low beams and one for the high?

left & right ides f the light? I expect your car, like my Gen 4 uses shutters to change between low & high beams.
If it is still under warranty, the dealer should be able to check & aim if necessary.
