    They are a bunch of amatures. It seems generally the first criterion is a bad paint job.

    If you look closely, the "bad" paint jobs are intentional-- they want they're vehicles to look battle-scarred and all shot up. Most of the fighters in Star Wars had that "weathered" look also.
