I noticed the other day that when the cruise control accelerates (either by selecting "resume" or manually increasing the speed), the car does a pretty good job of achieving deadbanding. Has anyone else noticed this and do you think it's intentional, or just a coincidence?

I've noticed this too and assumed it was designed. The prius likes to run where it uses gas efficiently so when told to accelerate it will probably try to do that as well as it can.

Much more coincidence. Put the car on a steep incline and there'll be no dead-banding.

I have noticed. I actually watched today on the way to work that when CC is on it does do a great job of FULLY UTILIZING the electric power. I was cruising down a long hill and it let off the gas to hit 100 MPG where as when I drive without CC sometime I forget to let off and only get 65 MPG. Great cruise technology!

Does your foot hurt? Then why use cruise control in the first place? The computer can't anticipate the road ahead as well as your own eyes can.

    100mpg? Don't you mean 99.5?
