First the cruise control turned off, then the dash went completely dark, then the center display went dark. The car had no power. I coasted to the side of the road and stopped. The car was unresponsive. Eventually the parking brake engaged. The only thing that worked was the power door locks. Car is completely inop. 2007 Prius

Did you have a chance to pull the codes (DTCs) via the OBD2 port?

I don't think I can get any codes. Nothing happens when I insert the key and press the button. I'll try again, but nothing happens. The only operation that does anything is the doors lock and unlock with the key fob.

Have you checked the 12v battery condition with a voltage meter or multi-meter?

When was the last time the 12v battery was replaced?

How many hours do you drive per day/week?

Sounds like inverter cooling water pump again. Typically kills the AM2 fuse. That fuse is in the engine compartment fuse box, driver side, 2nd 15 amp fuse down from the top. The AM2 fuse blowing will kill everything you described.

CC probably kicked off due to inverter temperature. Everything else went away when the fuse finally blew due to the pump motor failing.

Directly above and slightly to the passenger side of the fuse box is a one-wire electrical plug. If you disconnect that wire/plug, it will isolate the inverter cooling water pump from the electrical circuit. You can then replace the fuse and drive the car away. Just keep it less than about 40 mph and you should be able to get it where ever you need to have the pump replaced. It's located behind the driver headlight.

Can't pull any codes. There is no response to pushing the power button with the key in. The only thing that seems to work at all are the door locks.

It likely failed all at once. But I noticed the power dropped, seemingly from the cruise kicking off. But there was no response to throttle application. Then I noticed the dash was completely black, then I saw the center display was black

The little red light flashes in the dash when I lock or unlock the car. Otherwise nothing.

Is it as simple as a fuse somewhere? I checked the fusses under the hood.

    Or did a computer fail?

How do I diagnose when nothing responds?

    Thanks for any help, ideas?

TMR-JWAP you are exactly right! I disconnected the wire, put a new fuse in and it started right up.

Now, to replace the inverter water pump. I replaced the inverter, water pump and a computer right after I bought this car. It was inoperative when I bought it. But the fuse wasn't blown so I had codes to work with.

The water pump was the only new part, figures

    Thank you so much!

Thanks TMR-JWAP! That was it. Thought I'd checked all the fuses.

About to put a new inverter water pump in.

    Mahalo!
