Has anyone noticed with ICE off and windows rolled up (more difficult to detect with windows open, though I think I heard the sound reflecting off a parked vehicle I was passing by) when moving forward or reverse at slow (<5 mph) speeds a kind of pattering or tapping sound? I had never noticed this until tonight, so I'm wondering if there is some road debris caught somewhere that is to blame (I didn't hit anything out of the ordinary, though I came close to some roadkill rubber from what was once a tire).

Is there a stone/small pebble/nail/screw caught in the tread of a tire?

I have a gravel driveway, and often find that if a pebble gets stuck in the tread, I get these kind of noises. I just wait till the tires heat up, and, worst comes to worse, I find it at my destination and remove it.

Ah, of course! Sometimes the most obvious answer is the most elusive. I'll take a gander next time I look. ;-) Thank you all.

It was a little more than that, as I also started squeaking associated with a stronger rattling sound on bumps. At first, I thought it was brake caliper-related, but it turns out a stud had come undone on the tire. I wonder if someone had tried to gank the hubcap but ended up having cold feet?

They are year-round. :) Winters here in NTX rarely involve icy roads. This was exactly how it came out of the dealership, hrm.
