    Hi all,

I just had to let you all know that if you ever want to install a wireless router in your home, get a D-Link. I just installed a router and wireless pci card. The D-Link customer service was outstanding. They walked me through every step I needed to get it working, and within 15 minutes, I had both computer up and running on our new cable line.

Just thought I would pass it on.

i like d-link stuff but i can also report a very good experience with belkin's 802.11g with high speed mode. in fact, the only one that gave us a problem was a linksys but that was a fairly early 'b' mode unit.

we are currently running an x-box, 1 desktop computer and a mirra personal server via wired connections, and a laptop and another desktop via wireless, all running flawlessly. the laptop is 3 rooms away and the other desktop is in the basement.

i just ordered an apple airport express to port my mp3 collection over to my stereo wirelessly, so we'll see how that works soon.

I am beginning to think that they all work well but not all for the same place or person. I tried to set up a wireless network for my folks and had Netgear. Nothing would work. Went out and got Linksys based on my son-in-law's recommendation (he is a network specialist in real life). Everything works for them. I have Dell running in my house for two desktops, a laptop and two TiVos and everything works beautifully. Previously I had D-Link which worked fine. Gave it to my son and he can't get his laptop to communicate.

My problem with Netgear was Xbox Live compatibility. I'm hesitant to upgrade the Linksys 802.11B router I have now because when I look at Linksys's site, newer firmware isn't listed as still Live compatible.

I print wirelessly, and want to go to 802.11G as soon as possible. Since Linksys stacks nicely with their gigabit switch I use now, I guess I'll take a shot at the upgrade next year...

I've tried both the D-Link and the Linksys wireless routers. IMHO, the Linksys signal was stronger over a longer distance. The D-Link had trouble maintaining full signal strength in the same locations.
