Again, I've had the opportunity. This time, I was enamored by the convertible Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, or a blinged out Accord Coupe. Damnit, it's like I almost can't justify any other car or truck but the damn Prius.  It's one of those dimesions of owning a Prius that sort of creeps up on you when you start thinking about something else. Sort of like an indirect marketing ploy.

edit: heh, I just glanced through the trade-for-Camry-hybrid thread... Couple of people in the same boat it seems.... lol

    must be getting old...

Funny. When I had the realization I considered it my passage into maturity and responsibility.

You know, the only semblance of that problem I have is that I am really interested in the upcoming generation of Prius =)

Be still my heart.....but it isn't going to get 45+ mpg......

Plus the dog is like 10 years old and can't jump that high anymore. Nope, got to stick with the Prius!

Apparently not all of us age so gracefully, present company included. :)

Between the two, I'd definitely go for the Spyder.

Between the three, it's the Prius. Welcome to maturity, Squid!

Psst: Hey, you're keeping the bike(s), right? :D

DAMNIT, I don't want to be welcomed. Unfortunately, maturity=mediocrity, for the most part anyway...

Oh HELL YEAH I'm keeping the bike though.... If there's been one toy in my life that has been constantly amusing, it's the bike/s. It's the only toy I've ever had where after riding it for like 8 hours, you come home, jump off the thing all sore, swear you're not going to ride it for a month, and end up jumping back on it an hour later for a "quick rip"... Plus, leaning waaaaaay over on lone Florida highway sweeper curves holds a bizarre fascination I cannot even attempt to describe...

Of course, it's also nice to retain the ability to blow away Ferrari's, Vipers, and other exotics, with the mere twist of the wrist... B)

Wait, what was all that business about maturity?

Hey, it's a car, not a woman. I'll keep driving it as long as it's the best car on the road. When a better one comes along, I'll trade up. I imagine that will be the '09 (???) Prius. But if Honda surprises us with something better (an EV ???) I'll get that.

Yea, but remember the other reason for owning a Prius....low emissions. I own a Toyota Matrix which I will be trading in soon for a Prius, and I get 29/30 miles to the gallon. As I've been waiting, I keep on thinking "Why am I trading in my Matrix?". Better gas mileage but for me, and more importantly, low greenhouse gas emissions.

The Prius is the greenest ICE car on Earth! That's pretty cool.

Doesn't that distinction go to the Insight?

Anyway - Squid, you got the new car fever again???? <_<

Nope, not the 05-06 Insight at least. NY has an EZPass discount program for hybrids. But the 05-06 Insight doesn't qualify because of their emission is higher. I don't know why Honda will do that...

    http://www.nysthruway.gov/ezpass/greentag.html
"Note - Honda Insights - model years 2005-2006 do not meet the eligibility criteria because they do not meet California Air Resources Board SULEV emission requirements."

...just sort of keeping an eye on what's out there, and looking out for deals here and there...

Squid, I just want to let you know that I saw a commercial for the new Eclipse convertable last night. All I can say is 'wow.' Now I understand.
I certainly wouldn't trade Priapus but I would look at it to have 'on the side.'
