I thought you might like to know that even though it has been 16 years since he committed those terrible crimes each time my wife and I travel to Walt Disney World by car we go by Gainesville on I-75. As we do we personally still think about that crime and the horror this man gave that community.

I personally am against capital punishment but in cases like this I feel it is appropriate. Indeed, he will not kill again.

Problem is, that sort of thing doesn't really solve anything. IMO, put all the death row prisoners on treadmills to generate free electric power for the elderly or something... However, in the absence of such useful mechanisms for which every lawyer will scream "Cruel and unusual!", he's better off in the box...

My opinion on the death penalty has gone back and forth over the years. At this moment, I tend to agree with you Squid. Let them rot in a box and think about their actions every day until they die.

Then, if you believe in a higher power, they'll move on to round two.

It pains me to admit that I also agree with Mr. Squid.

Sometimes I think we treat many of the prisoners to nice. It's one thing to say keep them locked up forever, but why not get back to the days of bread and water, making big rocks into small rocks (ya know, Parchman MS prison), the chain gang, etc. If their lives weren'tcomfortable in prison, maybe lifelong imprisonment wouldn't be so bad.
Is having them in prison forever more cruel to the victims family or to them?

    Good riddance, it's about time.
