So yesterday my wife told me that the car was handling "funny" while she was out with the kids and she took it to a gas station to be checked. Guy looked at the tires and told her that TWO of the tires have nails on the side and he's unable to repair them :( Then to add injury to insult he tells her that the treads on ALL 4 tires are shot :(. So that means I get to do tire shopping :D After a hard day of tire shopping, oops I meant work, ;) I finally deceided to buy the Hankook H727s in 195/65-15. Bought them from Discount Tire something or other for $378 which included the replacement certificates with shipping included. Oh and to make the deal even better Hankook has a $40.00 rebate on these tires.

I put these on my wife's 2001 last Fall & they've worked great, NVH, mileage & traction, esp. snow. We normally do snows in winter, she was fine on these last winter. Consumer Reports was right about these.

Can you get them in 185/65/r15 rather than 195? . I tried 195 on my 06 Prius and it did not handle as well as with the OME size. For what its worth!!! Hal

    Hal,

The Hankook Optimo H727 does not come in the 185/65R15 size.

I think that your handling problems with the 195s were probably attributable to the tire model and not the size. I have 195/60R15 Goodyear TripleTreds on my 2007 Prius, and they're fantastic. They handle way better than the OEM 185/65R15 Goodyear Integrities.

Nothing wrong with running 195's, but I'd prefer 195/60 to keep the odometer calibration as close as possible.

Well maybe the fact that the wheels had a slight off-set was more the problem than the 195/65/r15 tires? They where Good Year assurance Fuel Max tires. They do wonders for FE on both my cars. They are on my HCH2 now. But on my Prius I will stick with 185's. Hal

Nice choice, Ryan. Keep us posted as you break them in and how they handle the winter weather. :)

Will do Justin. I looked at your LRR list and almost pulled the trigger on Kumho but with the kids felt the need to forgo LRR for better winter handling. They might have been good but many many positive reviews for Hankooks.

I hear ya bro. The Optimo 727 was rated at good for rolliing resistance so you shouldn't lose much MPG and people really like them. I'd say you made a good choice. :)
