I was watching the History channel on Sunday 5/13/2007. It was on History of the Hippie's.

I realised there are quite a few that where born just before or after the Movement and may not have realised their choice roots... ;)

It seems most of the hippie idoligies of the 60's that almost died out by 1968. The hippies then took a turn towards the enviroment & concervation.. Even the homosexuals benifited from the Hippie Movement. So we have the original hippies to thank, for a lot of todays beliefs.

So take a moment and thank a Hippie.... B)

In SF the Haight st area there used to be Bus tours that the "normal" people could take, to see the Hippies.
Kinda like a circus show, The begining of the end was the massive influx of teens that ran away from home to become Hippies in the Haight St district . The area was litterally flooded with people thinking the Hippie way of life was the ticket (Hippies could smoke, get high & didnt have to work). After a while the teens found out the hippie way of life just wasn't what they thought it was, and returned to their homes. Its intresting to see there are some that would like to return the the "Summer of Love" ..

Seems so many people think a rainbow sticker or air freshener hanging from a car mirror means a person is gay. However there is still a large modern-day group of Hippies know as "The Rainbow Family"[/u] these people hold gatherings in the woods/forests all over the U.S. similar to the days of woodstock with- out the bands .

Picture 10,000 to 20,000 Rainbow Family people gathering at one annual event I believe held once a year around the U.S.......

...and/or join us for the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love on September 2 in Golden Gate Park.
If you were one to do your 'experimentation' by tour bus of Haight Street perhaps you would be uncomfortable
If you were (or wish you were) one of those who the tourists were gawking at you may find the gathering fun
    Either way, bless the Hippies!

Is it true that they now have a bus tour in Orange County for people who want to gawk at Republicans?
