    CURRENT BATTLES REINFORCING DEMOCRATIC LEADS

As a start, the Democrats are maintaining stable and nearly landslide leads in both the
race for President as measured by generic performance (51 to 41 percent) and the named ballot
for Congress (52 to 42 percent) — untouched by the battles between the Democratic Congress
and the President. More importantly, we have recently conducted surveys in the battleground for
2008, and the results look like a rerun of 2006 — an election when Democrats lost no incumbents
    and swept the competitive seats.

Kenneth Starr's Law Firm Gives More Money to Clinton (Update1)
    By Lindsay Fortado

Lawyers at Kirkland & Ellis, the law firm that's home to Whitewater prosecutor Kenneth Starr and Bush administration official Jay Lefkowitz, have given more to Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign than to all of the top Republican candidates combined.
Kirkland, based in Chicago, is one of several corporate law firms that traditionally backed Republicans where lawyers are turning to Democratic candidates. Lawyers say the change is largely due to disenchantment with the Republican Party's social policies and the war in Iraq.
Large U.S. firms such as Jones Day and Sidley Austin, which donated more to President George W. Bush in 2000 than to Democratic candidate Al Gore, are giving thousands more to Democratic hopefuls than Republicans. Top Wall Street investment banks and hedge funds are also giving more to Democrats.

    THE FIX
    by Chris Cillizza

Remember Alaska? The ruby red state President Bush carried by 25 points in 2004 and 31 points four years earlier? The state who last elected a Democrat to the Senate in 1974. And to the House in 1972?
Well, the times are changing in the Last Frontier thanks to a public corruption scandal that has badly damaged the Republican brand and potentially implicated both Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) and Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska).

Poll: Americans Tuned In to the Campaign
    By Dalia Sussman

Still, attention among younger Americans is up considerably: 36 percent of those under age 30 were paying attention to the election at this point four years ago; 65 percent of them are now.
More than 7 in 10 Democrats are now engaged in the campaign, compared with just over 4 in 10 in 2003. That compares with two-thirds of Republicans who are now paying attention, up from about half.

[MJ Here: And what's the Republican solution? Rig the election again, this time in CA. Like I keep saying, the republicans are devoid of any honor, dignity, or honesty . Since they all voted for such a loser that their guy has done more to single handedly ruin this country's economics, international goodwill, and has divided family members against each other the likes of which have not been seen in this country since the Civil War, they now are looking for another 'back door' to winning at any cost. Instead of finding a platform palatable to the majority of the country they will try to force their nastiness down our throats by hook or by crook. This is endemic to the whole republican mentality of forcing their way of life and bad politics on a country that doesn't want anything to do with it. All of us, in every state must remain vigilant for continued shenanigans by these criminals.]

California Proposal Could Sway 2008 Race

The so-called Presidential Election Reform Act is being pushed by Thomas Hiltachk, a lawyer in a Sacramento firm that represents the California Republican Party...Democratic consultant Chris Lehane called the plan "an effort to rig the system in order to fix the election." "If this change is made, it will virtually guarantee that a Republican wins the White House in 2008," Lehane said in an e-mail.

Blah blah blah blah. You were doing so well with your post until you started in again with your mean sprited, hate filled diatribe that we have only read before, oh, just 40 or 50 times now. At least your'e consistent.
