The actual margin of victory was Webb 49.6% and Allen 49.3%.

Now, if those numbers were reversed, they'd be calling it a mandate.

I wonder if Webb has political capital, and intends to spend it? Oh no--wait--crazy spending is only done by the CONSERVATIVES. What an oxymoron.

Man you beat me to it... I wonder what Bush considers his "mandate" to be now.... so far the dem's have been slightly more careful in their speeches.... this (in my mind) was more a vote against an below average president then for the dem's.... let's hope they remember that in 2 years time!

Interesting in that this incoming Senate will have 13 Jews! Amazing given that we represent about 2% of the population and will have I think 30 in the Congress.

The worse president in US history certainly fits into the below average category. The 'independents' were the swing vote this election, voting 60% democratic.

They are of course a *very* heterogenous group, but I would say fiscal irresponsibility and the Iraq misadventure picked up their vote. If the shrub had done only one of the two, I doubt the democrats would have done anywhere near as well.

The exit polls rated repub corruption high up on discontentment scale, but I don't buy it except as a concrete rationalization of a feeling that the repubs are screwing up big time. One just has to read our local rightards on PC, who are exposed to every detail of every corruption in this forum, to realize that sort of thing doesn't faze them.

It's the sort of bragging that really draws the ire of hate groups everywhere... berman bragging like that just re-enforces everything hate groups preach.... Gives even more credence to how the Muslims say the US is really run by Jews, that sort of thing...

Just an innocent observation - quite interesting responses to it though.

What brought this on? From an innocent observation, seeing how there is also notes being taken about the first Muslim to be elected to Congress - You respond like this? Interesting.

Actually it only draws the hate from those PREDISPOSED TO HATE.

From a neutral perspecitve it reveals the true great nature of this country to vote for people based on their records, ethics, morals, positions on topics, etc rather than there religion.

Again, you seem put off by this observation. It is you who responds quickly and with vile - why? What is your predisposition?

I did not think that my post above would have brought forth such...

Just an interesting observation. Also the first Muslim gets into Congress.

Yeah, and all things considered, in this case, the "predisposed to hate" faction numbers in the tens of millions...

I'm just making an observation, you're the one getting unecessarily defensive, you're the one with the itchy anti-semitic trigger finger... :p
