Well....if a dog caused the crash, it's all Toyota's fault for not properly designing and programming the "dog proof safety lockout". I think all prius owners should band together and file a class action lawsuit for $50 billion.:D;):)

Seeing how it is a German Car that got hit, does that narrow down the suspects (i.e. breeds)?

You can't shift into anything unless the car is powered on.

The only way for the story to be true is if she left the car powered on when she got out. She might have pushed [PARK] but she never powered down the car. Perhaps she wanted to leave the A/C on for her dog. I'm sure he appreciated it.

But why would he take off like that and leave her stranded at the store? Maybe he thought he'd be back in time and she'd never know? :)

Dont you have to press the brake to shift into drive or reverse? Can the dog do that?

Hummm, that is a curious spot in the Jetta window:

This is the area of interest:

So if we blow it up and do a little image enhancement:

Disregarding past posting practices by Jetta proponets, it would be wrong to suggest the passenger knew the car might hold a nut. The dog was obviously provoked.

dogs have also been seen driving in Subaru's.

considering that Toyota owns part of Subaru this is entirely possible since they favor Subaru/Toyota products.

    unfortunately they need more training.
