When I'm driving I'm not able to interact with some of features in the dashboard display such as use the apps or type on the screen. This is fine to protect me when I'm alone in the car, but it's a real hassle when I have a passenger who can safely interact with the system. Is there a way to override, turn off, or disable this safety feature?

that should work if installed. there's a DIY on the forums to make your own for a lot cheaper.. if you're the DIY-type...

then again.. i guess buying this and installing it yourself would be considered DIY too.. lol.
