DIY - Adding batteries to extend range

i would love to add 5 or 6 miles myself. i'll be curious to see what you come up with.

 

i'm sure someone will jump in here soon with some good advice, so i'll save them the trouble: you should have bought a volt.

 

while I wouldn't be so snarky myself, I will say this: the cost of these systems, regardless of reliability and "honesty", will never be paid back in fuel savings. maybe if gas was at $8/gal…but by the time that happens, the batteries will come down in price too.

to save you some reading on the thread linked above – you can roughly double the range, you cannot charge from the same port, and it will take you weeks, if not months, before the factory gauge shows the "correct" range when you have a full charge. though, it will then be hilariously wrong if the factory battery is fully charged while the additional battery is empty.

Totally off subject, But I think Toyota would be even more of a contender possibly untouchable if they could incorporate the range of the leaf in their PIP but yet some how keep the price the same as it is now...

If money had nothing to do with it, I still wouldn't buy a leaf due to its limited range. But a leaf PIP combo would be kick a$$

 

no brainer. how to keep from going out of business selling cars for less than it cost to make them. aye, there's the rub!

 

It's easy. Use financing and an exchange rate. Why do you think all the Toyota incentives are tied to using TFS.
