I have the worst luck. I just got my Prius on Wednesday, after 5 weeks of waiting. As I drove today with my windows down, enjoying the nice weather, I hear a click, click, click sound coming from the road. I thought it was maybe just a rock in the tire. Tonight I look at the front tire and see a screw stick in my front driver's side tire that have less than 200 miles on it. I think to myself, this sucks. I decide to check the other tires and low and behold, the rear driver's side tire has a screw in it too! In my illustrious driving career that has only spanned about 7 years I have had about 10 tire punctures. Screws, nails, metal re-barb, you name it, I have probably run over it and got it stuck in my tire. I guess I will get them plugged tomorrow.

check your warranty booklet that came with the car. I think you might be able to get either reimbursed by toyota or get free tires. Not 100% sure on this, so it might be worth your time to check it out.

What a disappointing bummer, wchardin. :(

I don't think road-hazards are covered by any tire warranty, but the dealer may plug the holes for free to show you what great service they can provide.

At least the screws are in a spot that can be patched. We have a really great tire swing that came from a new car, where my wife picked up a piece of metal through a sidewall - no way to fix that. The tire still has all of the little molding nubs!

Yeah I need to be thankful for that. When I was waiting to get the Prius, I hit something that slashed my tire on the side in my 4Runner, and had to get a new tire, 18 inch tires are expensive!

If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all, gloom, despair agony on me, deep dark depression, excessive misery...

Yeah, RIGHT! Only if those guys were gay. ;)

Just having some of those fine lookin' women folk lazing' 'round would cure me of any gloom, despair, agony, deep dark depression, or excessive misery . . .

. . . that is, unless those hotties just happened to all be lesbians. :heh:

ALL TIRES ARE EXPENSIVE NOW. TIRES ARE MADE FROM PETROLEUM.

IVE WONDERED WHY CAR TIRES ARENT MADE FROM URETHANE LIKE SKATEBOARD TIRES AND WHAT NOT. THERES PROBABLY A GOOD REASON WHY ITS NOT DONE.

UPDATE: I was going to get them plugged but both of the screws were micro in length. They were stuck in the ridges of the tires and when they were pulled out, no air came out, and the tires are unharmed. I guess I have kinda good luck now, just maybe...

    Lucky you!

I got a screw last week that was so big that it could not be pulled out. It had to be screwed out with a driver.

And now I have another one (not quite as big though).

Sigh. Not so patiently waiting for the tire store to open. They were closed for the holiday.

Maybe we should start up a group buy for a magnetic front air dam that would pick up all the screws on the road. Then we wouldn't be running all over these damned screws!

Wow,, Where are all of you driving that you keep picking up screws????

I have been driving for 25 years and I have only had 1 flat tire in all that time.. I guess I should consider myself very lucky

My hard luck brotherinlaw got a nail in the tire of his 900 mile almost new Yaris. The tire was not repairable, and bridgestone dealer charged him $131 for a new RE92 (!). His neighbor was having some remodeling done, and my brotherinlaw showed him the nail. he recognized it as the type he was using, and paid for the tire. If you are going to have bad luck, it pays to have good neighbor. Luck happens!

Bumping this thread to talk about MY Prius Bad Luck.

This past spring I was in an accident and had my front and back ends smashed in; it cost (the insurance company) $11,000+ to fix.

A couple of weeks ago I went to the hardware store. When I drove a little further I discovered I had a screw embedded in my front left wheel. Needed: new tire.

Finally (for now) yesterday a pebble hit my windshield leaving a little crack. I know from personal experience little cracks become big cracks. Needed: new windshield.

Are the gods trying to tell me something about driving a Prius?

I guess that's why they call it magnetic gray. I guess they mean it literally.
