Is it effective to feather the throttle at speeds over 55? I notice that when I do that , I get the electric motor to kick in a little bit with the ICE. Is this effective for better gas mileage? I can go from all blue, when I lift, I believe it's called "deadband", to Electric and ICE at the same time. I guess I'm trying to have the electric motor still assist at hwy speeds.

It can be, but in most cases it doesn't help and may hurt.

I tend to feather when anticipating a slow down or a downhill area approaching. I can usually get into a pseudo-glide or arrows from the battery only on the display and showing instantaneous mpg of 99.9. Then, I try to sustain that while I slow for the distant stop, or let my speed accumulate or maintain during the downhill.

This is not effective, IMO, for flat terrain where I prefer to set the CC and let the computer do it's job. Only when I can anticipate terrain do I try to out-think the ECU.
