The traction battery SOC gauge shows very rapid changes and easily gets up to 8 green bars.

I replaced my HV battery last week. Here is what I noticed:
1.) I noticed a week before it died that the accelerator response was lethargic like a golf cart and the battery went to one purple bar which never happens.
2.) The battery quickly fills and drains when sitting still or going down a small hill.
3.) The car was very slow.
4.) The engine works very hard.
5.) Little EV power. The engine was on more often than not.

The battery cooling fan (grille in the back seat) may audibly run more frequently.

My battery fan didn't make a noise and where I live it's 70ºF–85ºF. But all cars' symptoms are different. You might still have a lot of battery power and one day it'll just fail.

all of these things. and I got my first triangle today and its getting replace with a green beans. not my preference, but i thought new prius batteries would have more available stock by now. I would have went without the car for over a week to get one of those batteries, but not 2 months.

Where in the US of A are you located?

Maybe with a location we could recommend some options before you invest in a battery that won’t be as reliable as you hoped;).

Good luck with your decision (y).

Agreed, it would be well worth the wait for a new OEM battery.

I bought my 2006 with a bad HV battery. I drove it 25 miles with the triangle on. I noticed the ICE ran a lot and the battery would show full charge very quickly, and then discharge very quicly. The battery cooling fan was running loud and the engine was racing by the time I pulled into my driveway. Now that I have a new HV battery I have only noticed the battery completely charged a handful of times.
