While driving to the beach yesterday my daughter and her friend brought "pillows" big down fluffy bed pillows so they could sleep on the 90 minutes trip.

After about 20 minutes my Darling Daughter (15 yrs) tells her friend to Move off the air flow vent back there.

IT never even occured to me. Thanks to my daughter - I won't likely forget now

but what if any damage could I have done?

Now that I'm on that subject (of the Beach) - San Destin - and YES I did go swimming :)

I also brought my poochi rocco and since he wasn't allowed on the beach I sat in the car with the air running for about 2 hours.

The battery would drain, then I guess the engine would kick in and recharge the battery, a cycle.

does that do any harm to the engine?

The answer to the 2nd question is no. The answer to the first question is probably not. Blocking that vent for about 20 minutes shouldn't have done any damage, at least in my mind. I believe if there was any overheating the HSD system would have taken care of the problem itself or at least notified you via dash instrument warnings.

If you haven't noticed anything different, I wouldn't worry.

I think you'll get a warning about battery temperature, and it may run ICE-only until things return to normal.

p.s. You posted twice times in 90 minutes withe the same question. On the cold expressionless web, that comes across as impatiently demanding an answer, not politely asking for it.

At least both messages were posted in the same thread as opposed to some members who repeat the same questions in multiple threads in numerous forums.

Here are 20 points -- but give them to your daughter! Good show on knowing about the vent!

I guess if the battery starts heating up, it'll start using it less often. Also, you may hear a fan first as it tries to draw in cold air.
