I test-drove a 2016 Prius Two with 103k miles yesterday. The owner states they typically get 48mpg. The vehicle runs great and is mechanically sound.

My only concern is the Dr. Prius Life expectancy test indicates 56.55% capacity left (fair condition). Because of these results, I held off on purchasing the vehicle. I do not know much about hybrid batteries and I hope you all can help me clarify the results. View attachment 256374

idk if dr prius can be trusted on a gen 4, seems i have read some threads suggesting that the life expectancy function is not reliable,

If the 2016 Prius Two has NiMH battery technology, I would believe the Dr Prius estimate. The only high mileage NiMH Prius we owned was 2005 and the NiMH battery was pretty well shot by 140K miles which occurred at the 10-year point in 2015.

Our current 2016 Three Touring has Li-Ion battery, and is still going strong after 8 years and 82K miles. Still getting mid- to high-50's MPG.

Even if Dr Prius says it has just over half life left, that's still another 8 years and 100K miles.

If NiMH, you can always have the battery pack reconditioned if you don't like the MPG.

Thanks @FuelMiser It's been a while since much chat here about 2016 Prius specs and I needed to refresh before posting.

@joe2025 I believe the 2016 Prius 2 eco trim uses the Lithium Ion hybrid battery and the 2016 Prius 2 uses the NiMH hybrid battery. If you check the specs for both you'll see the Prius 2 eco gets more MPG than the Prius 2 and if I remember right one of the reasons why was because if the Lithium Ion battery.

Can I recommend you also try the DrPrius Full Battery Test. It was a lot easier for me to run than the Life Expectancy test was. Also one test or DrPrius screenshot is never fully conclusive. Especially when there are not to many other post to compare it with here at priuschat.

my two cents for what it's worth.
