Night time driving is a bit of a headache and at points though out the day, the sun can have a glare. The sun is so bright that I could have glasses on and the visor flipped down and it does just about nothing to improve visibility. Night time driving it's like everyone has their brights on or something. There are times on a long straight the car's lights about 2 miles away will bother me more then the car with it's lights about 200 ft in front. My neighborhood is on a 55mph 2 lane (1 each way) that can be busy at times. I can only see something like 50ft in front of me at times.

    What do you think?

This is not a Prius problem. Have you had eye surgery?

... unless the windshield is not adequately cleaned occaisionally, including inside.

But there is nothing different between the Prius and other cars regarding this.

Scratches or gunk on the windshield, scratches on your eyeglasses, or cataracts. If it's not the first two, do you get regular eye checkups? Glare and starburst effects on small, bright lights are a symptom of cataracts.

I also recommend seeing an eye doctor.
You might have "glare blindness".......in addition to the other things mentioned.

I have dry eye pretty badly. It's not like what @Higgins909 described. My dry eye doesn't affect brightness and it happens any time of the day. Oddly, I rarely get symptoms when driving, probably because I blink plenty when driving. But I often get it when working all day on the computer or when watching a movie on the TV.

You "could" have the beginnings of cataracts. Your description sounds exactly like the symptoms. They're very easy to fix now. Walk in, walk out.

@Higgins909 what is your optometric situation, are you say short sighted (myopic), long sighted, have astigmatism, or? Wearing glasses with corrective lens, contacts?

    Hmm...
It certainly could be symptoms of cataracts or early cataracts....
But I would ask, does this glare happen all the time?
Do you notice these symptoms ONLY behind the wheel?
If this glare is eye related, I would expect that you would have these symptoms in other situations with similar light and visual feedback.

In any case, yes, I would get my eyes checked...FIRST. Knowing what condition your eyes are in is very important.
Once you know that status, you can correctly start to assess the best approach or answer.
Eye exams are generally cheap and IMO very important.

    PS.
I would strongly urge you pursue this ASAP. Your description of your personal visual driving condition sounds dangerous.

Kinda makes me think of when the optometrist puts in the belladonna drops for a look-see: for the next few hours bright lights are tough. And good luck if you need to do some fine close-up work, lol.

All of this is due to pupils over-delated, not constricting with bright light.

Are you headlights glass (plastic) clear or foggy clean them with mother's aluminum polish paste with a drill pad. Best way I know and then repaint with plastic clear paint or a UV blocking wax.
And if you have halogen bulbs I would definitely switch to LED 6500k range which is white. And they don't have a white spot like normal headlights to everything's just brighter so when you drive through the fog you don't see a reflection of your headlights there cheaper one but I do recommend that power supply outside of the bulb or my first choice the heatsinks that metal strips coming out of them. No fans in the light it is a Prius so you don't want to hear them I use the ones with the heat sinks but I've used both the noise didn't bother me Screenshot_20190102-051712_Amazon%20Shopping.jpeg 1546435357532.jpeg

    Symptoms:
1 Glare at night from other cars headlights.
2 Glare from the sun in the daytime.

    Recent suggestions:
    1 New headlights.
    2. Sunglasses

I can't see how either suggestion helps with symptom #1 or how sunglasses help with symptom #1.

    Eye doctor.
