The patent rejection seems to be based on a judgement that there's nothing patentable (new) in the process EEStor submitted for patent protection.

So here it is the middle of March and I've heard nothing more from/about EEStor since they missed their own deadline to deliver EESUs to Zenn. Have they given any excuses? Have they revised their promised delivery date? Or have they just closed up shop and fled to Argentina with whatever's left of the company's capital?

    Hi Daniel,

EEStor is appealing the final patent rejections. As it stands at this time, 4 patents granted, 2 rejected for EEStor. There are allegedly 12 more patents waiting for approval. Some pumpers of EEStor are using the excuse Dick Weir CEO of EESTor is waiting for the patents to be approved before the reveal which is baloney. In 2006 when Ian Clifford stated to Bill Moore of EV World EEStor's reveal was "imminent", a majority of the patents were not even submitted.

No one has heard anything from EESTor in 2010. Ian Clifford CEO of Zenn shut his mouth once the calendar year hit 2010. He had Zenn's spokesperson state they are waiting for final delivery from EESTor and EEStor will make that announcement. No reason was given for the delay...just like the last 3 years no reason was given for non delivery after Ian made "imminent" delivery announcements.

Expect some news at Zenn's AGM meeting next Wednesday. I predict Zenn will be revealling their Zennergy with no EESU from EEStor, and a new website. There will be the usual BS statements from Zenn expressing confident in EEStor and delivery will be by end of year.

The bottom line is there will be no EESU from EEStor powering a highway vehicle period.

Zenn stock apparently was well over $6 back last fall, when people (some people) were expecting "imminent" delivery of the EESUs. Now it's down to $2.64. I don't buy volatile stocks. For that matter, the only individual stocks I own are minuscule amounts of four issues that I had emotional reasons for wanting to own, such as Toyota because I like the Prius. However, I know two people who put what I'd consider sizable chunks of cash into Zenn, and I feel bad for them. Hey, I really love my little Zap Xebra, but I would not dream of investing in the company!

    Speaking of the devil:

ZENN Motor Company Organizational Update - MarketWatch
TORONTO, ONTARIO, Mar 18, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- ZENN Motor Company Inc., ("ZMC" or the "Company") /quotes/comstock/11v!znn (CA:ZNN 2.64, -0.01, -0.38%) a leading enabler of zero emission transportation solutions, today announced comprehensive organizational changes in support of its go-forward strategy.
The Company has ceased production of the ZENN LSV and the successful sell-down of remaining inventory and ground stock is largely complete. As such, the Company has been able to complete planned organizational changes that reflect its transition from manufacturer to solutions developer. This has resulted in an overall reduction of 15 permanent employees that supported the sales, marketing and production of the ZENN LSV. These changes, along with other initiatives and the previously announced closure of the Company's Saint Jerome production facility, will significantly reduce the Company's on-going rate of spend.
"The entire staff is to be commended for their continued professionalism during this period of transition," stated Ian Clifford, Chief Executive Officer of ZENN Motor Company. "With these changes, we are able to ensure maximum focus of our human and financial resources towards executing on our ZENNergy strategy."
The Company will elaborate upon its status and plans at its upcoming Annual and Special Meeting of Shareholders being held on March 24, 2010 at the TMX Broadcast Centre which will also be webcast. Details can be found at www.ZENNcars.com.

Basically they give up and are switching to selling bits rather than the full package...

What bits is Zenn selling? Zenn has no product at this time.
Even after Zenn announces the Zennergy next week, which reputable auto manufacturer would purchase a Zennergy system from Zenn, Toyota?

No they wont be selling to Toyota, or any other large car manufacturer. My guess is they will make small scale products. Things that the DIY EV community can use basically. I don't see a financial stability in their future (looking at my crystal ball).

It's really too bad, because the Zenn is a nice little car. I know Dave has had problems with his older version, but I like Allan's 35-mph unit with the AC motor. I hate to say this, but except for range, it's a much nicer car than my Xebra. And I've got the range only because I spent big bucks for an aftermarket LiFePO4 battery pack. Other than that, the only advantage mine has over Allan's is the cute factor. The three-legged Xebra is much more cute, and gets far more notice. But the Zenn handles hills much better.

I'm sorry they've quit making the Zenn. I wonder if their losses on EEStor are the reason they were unable to continue building it.

    Daniel,
Have you heard of EcoloCap’s Nano Lithium Battery? The battery is suppose to have the "highest energy density battery to date" and cost lot less than the current lithium batteries available. Some people believe Ecolocap is a scam company like EESTor. What makes Ecolocap different is that they actually have a product/battery. Next week Exponent Testing will release the test results of EcoloCap’s Nano Lithium Battery. Exponent is a legit company which has done work for Toyota. I will hold judgement on the company and the battery until the test results are released next week by Exponent.

    This is Ecolocap's press release:

I expect battery performance to improve. At this point, I'm not too concerned with what company makes the next breakthrough. It sounds like EcoloCap is at a very early stage of development. What made EEStor's claims so interesting was that the EESU would have been an entirely DIFFERENT way of storing electrical energy, virtually lossless, extremely light weight, and capable of accepting and delivering charge at very high rates. EcoloCap is just talking about an incremental improvement in an essentially conventional method. And lots of companies are working on ideas very similar to EcoloCap's. I would not invest in a start-up company that is competing head-on with large established companies. I wish them luck, but I find their announcement rather mundane.

It's easy for Dick Weir CEO of EESTor to make bold claims the last 18 years when he has no product.

I'm just saying that an incremental improvement in battery chemistry is not earth-shaking, and with so many companies working on it, the one you mentioned is really nothing special. All battery advancements are good, and they will continue. But they'll continue with or without any one particular company.
