I used to build and fly electric racing planes: 45oz., 30" wingspan, 90mph and unlimited vertical climb.

Electric power in planes rocks. It's so smooth and predictable and clean.

Seems like an electric motor in a 1:1 plane would be a natural over a reciprocating engine; it's the "fuel tank" (battery) issue that still needs a bit of work, apparently.

I mean, for the kind of flying I do, an hour's endurance (this doesn't include *anything* for reserves, either, I don't think...?) would be just enough for maybe a bit of pattern work, but no more.

Wondering what the power-off glide ratio is for that aircraft...
    :)

I think I would actually *pay* for the opportunity to wash a Lancair!

I'll keep that in mind for when I get mine

(Although it may be a while, aircraft prices being what they are...)
