Electric MiniCooper may be available in 2008 but it'll cost you

While I hate to rain on any EV parade... These folks have promised an EV "next year" for about seven years running now. Don't hold your breath.

Man, I can't believe some of the idiotic responses on that blog. As usual, most people think it will under-perform the gas version. NOT.

 

Oh now that would be awesome for a fun car. get the S with the sports suspension and all the handling stuff. Put the batteries in the back seat area with the most weight in front of the axle. From what I have seen of the ev sports cars that ev mini would be one heck of a car and with lithium ion batteries you could get some decent rang and you are going to have some serious fun. To bad I don’t have the cash to drop on a car like that.

Well you can buy the car with all the sport stuff that’s 26-30k and then hut the engine and I don’t know how electric cars work but I assume you remove the trani too then add a high performance electric motor and some lithium ion batteries and you can haul some serious butt. Now I don’t know how much the batteries and motor cost and I don’t know what a mechanic would charge to do the conversion but I bet it would be a lot. I loved my Mini S and would love to have one again in the future as a fun car and an electric sports car is just cool. I saw one on the net that had a 300 mile range and performance that would make gas sports car drivers cry. In the weekend when I took my mini out and ran it hard I only got 180-230 miles per tank.

 

well... its been a year... so anyone bought one yet??
