Could someone explain to me how this thing works or point me to some articles that explain it? I'm not highly mechanical. I'm just curious.

    Thanks.

Jeff, try the link below for starters (click "Hybrid Transmission" on the right):

    http://www.toyota.co.jp/IRWeb/special_rep/...sII/ths2_7.html

NOTE: Copy and paste the link into your browser. For some reason clicking the link directly doesn't work properly.

That link gives me a page full of odd characters one of which is a link. That takes me to a page on the Toyota Japan page, but I can't find a link to the transmission.

I know! Try copying and pasting the link into your brower rather than clicking on the link in my post. I get the same thing when I just click on the link but, for some reason, when I copy and paste, it works fine. Then, on the right side of the page, about half way down, there's a clickable link that reads, "Hybrid Transmission". That should get you there.

I tried to download the PDF and upload it to the Library but it's something like a 1.5MB file which exceeds the limits.

I tried clicking on the link and copying it into the address line of the browser. Same result.

Okay, hate to do this but, go over to the 2004 Yahoo group. In the "links" section about 5 up from the bottom of that page, you'll find a link with the heading "THSII". Click on that link and that should do it.......I hope.

That is strange. The link works for me as well.

I was trying to copy and paste the link into my post here but, for some reason, I couldn't. Thus, I had to type the link into my post (which obviously didn't work).

Any chance of increasing the file limit in the library from the current 1MB to around 2MB or so? I was trying to post that PDF there but it's 1.5MB and I can't break it up (not going to pay $300 to Adobe just for those purposes  ).

Wellllllll, I read them both and I still don't understand it.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Maybe we were better off trying to read it in Japanese.

As soon as I have an idea of what the bandwidth will be like on the site on a regular basis I would like to keep the file upload fairly low in case 1,000 people come to the site and get that file - there goes 1.5GB of bandwidth for the month.

We can use another site that I have that has 10GB of transfer a month for large files like that - I can either receive the files via email to post there or I can give a select couple of people the ftp information to get into the site.

Or, if anyone here owns Acrobat, they could easily split the file into two sections.

I tried using the free version but obviously that won't do it (thanks Adobe). Maybe I'll try a different format when I get a chance.

Well, people will still have to download both sections to have the full document, so doesn't that defeat the purpose?

That's true. I was thinking someone with the s/w could divide the entire doc into sections. For example, Jeff was interested in the Hybrid Trans only so he would only be downloading that section......maybe like 200-300KB.

Ahhhh...that's true. I have the software somewhere, maybe I can find it and split it up into sections.

That would be great. The document itself is neatly divided; there are separate sections for the trans, engine, system control, specs, etc., and, of course, we don't need the front or rear cover pages nor the table of contents.........not that I can fully comprehend anything in between, though
