hi i just bought my 2007 prius about a month ago. now the check engine light is on... can i go to 7/11 to get the code checked? also i need to smog the car soon.. so hopefully the code isn't that big of a problem. the car runs great still.. averages around 50 mpg so far..

The light (maintenance light) means the car thinks it's time for an oil change. Instructions to turn it off are in the owners manual.

If it's actually the CEL instead of the maintenance light, any good shop with an OBD reader can pull the codes...post them here.

Adding to the above, the maintenance light is just a 5,000 mile counter. You reset it, and 5,000 miles later it turns on to remind you about oil changes.
