    Hi y'all,

My Prius 2008 was extremely low on engine oil yesterday, and I took it to Walmart to have oil change. Then on the way home it was making rattling, knocking sounds from the engine, and engine light came on for P0011 Replace oil control valve (OCV) recommended part VVT solenoid. I took it to a mechanic and he said the engine needs to be replaced, and on the way home it died completely now. I'm not able to put it on D mode anymore, that's what I meant. also, battery seems be gone as well as I couldn't roll up my window. At this point, is it worth repairing anything since the costs starts at $3500 he told me. Should I just get a new car? Please let me know your recommendations.

A low 12V battery will both prevent you from rolling up the window and definitely prevent you from putting it in drive. That has nothing to do with the engine issues, but at the time is protecting your engine from further damage (although almost certainly too late).
It was "extremely low on oil" and you took it to walmart for an oil change instead of adding oil before starting it? How low? Below the low mark on the dipstick? Not shoving on the dipstick at all?
The noise didn't start till after you left walmart? No, walmart didn't cause the damage (unless they dramatically over or underfilled it, but I assume the mechanic would have noticed that). But the oil change moment is not a magic "time gate" that causes the noises to start right after walmart.

As said above, mileage, condition, service history and other known issues/problems should be used to decide what to do.
