My 2007 Prius is currently in the shop. It has roughly 106k miles on it. They sent me this pic and said the engine water pump is leaking. They said it's the pink crusty stuff in the photo. I have zero car knowledge, so I'm taking their word for it. Can anyone here tell me if that's what this looks like? They also pulled the codes P1121 and P1116....something to do with the coolant flow control valve. Aannnnnd my front brakes are apparently at 2mm and need to be replaced. Is this all normal/expected maintenance for a 2007 Prius with 106k miles on it? I also need new struts, but I'm going to wait a bit on those. I love my car and I want to drive it until it can't drive anymore, but damn. So. Much. Money.

Ya, I got the exact same report at the same mileage. Never lost a drop of fluid. Nonetheless, it was 100,000 miles so I figured it was time to be preemptive, so I sprang for brakes, bearings, all fluids, water pump, belt and plugs -- at CarX for $1000 Out The Door. Dealer wanted $3500.

i think there is a weep hole in the pump, iirc. nothing to worry about, but if the belt is showing age, it might be worth doing the pump and antifreeze at the same time.
or, it might go 200,000 miles, who knows?

i would want to see the front brakes, possible, but many go much longer.
the coolant control valve can fail, but again, did it? i would want a second opinion. or maybe dump it before you need a battery or brake actuator.

Since the car is already at the shop, have them do the maintenance. It's going on 100k+ miles

    1. Replace water pump and belt
    2. Replace 3 way valve (p1121)
    3. Drain and refill engine coolant.

All 3 are related so you might be able to get a discount. If a dealer were to do these things, your bill will be around $1000
