Until Congress passes a law giving the refineries immunity from any damage caused by the use of E15, we likely won't see it soon.

Its actually the auto companies that will lose the money. People will get mad at fuel economy. I'm not sure, but it may also damage engine and fuel systems parts.

The mandate and subsidy were a bad Jimmy carter idea that gained a life of their own. The government could save a lot more gasoline with cafe standards than these ethanol requirements. They finally started doing that in 2007. Remember, first corn is subsidized in the farm bill, then there is a second subsidy to make the ethanol cheaper for refiners, all the while their is a mandate making refiners mix it. This is part of the hidden $4b a year subsidies for gasoline, but the congress wants to increase this waste. Other old bad laws are a 1913 low on oil exploration equipment that among other things helped pay bp to cause the spill in the gulf.

Tell your congress people to stop increasing this corporate welfare and fix the problem. OK, time to step off the soap box.
