EPA wants to ban carcinogen, Pentagon says it's junk science

    Never mind that 80 studies have shown TCE to cause cancer and that it's all over the place, the Pentagon rules that the EPA is nothing but a bunch of Clintonites who use junk science. Evidently, the Pentagon runs the country now. Don't worry, be happy.

    Yep. The Air Farce is the primary offender I would guess. TCE is a powerful degreaser and was used liberally on new air craft components that were packed in a protective grease for protection. Davis Monthan AFB down in Tucson had areas where the TCE was so concentrated in the soil that workers digging trenches were overcome by the fumes. TCE is particularly difficult to extract from the subsurface because it has a low solubility and it's denser than water. The book "A Civil Action" was the first expose on TCE. It's nasty stuff.
