I have received from some other sources, and it seems like it is to be discussed only to ban its urban circulation.
    Next Monday we'll see.

A big part of the shift seems to be moving away from personal transportation and toward public conveyances wherever possible.

Sounds like a Socialists dream and Joe Publics [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Public"]Joe Public - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] nightmare!

Thankfully they have this all planned for when I'll be living in a retirement home, but it is typical of the centralist socialist nonsense that is the European Union.

The quicker the UK gets out of the EU the better as far as I am concerned. It was sold to the UK as a Common Market not a Socialist Super State. :(

Am I able to claim political asylum from this Socialist terror?

From the pics of the kettle party in Trafalgar square over the weekend, you'd think dear old blighty was having its own October revolution.

Nah just spoilt Government workers objecting to not having a pay rise this year. The rest of the workers who pay their wages through taxation have already taken massive pay cuts due to the recession a few years ago. I earn less now than 8 years ago :( and petrol is 30% up on a year ago!

Hey ho, things could be much worse. Thankfully I didn't have my house wiped out in a tsunami.

While the drive to use more trains, busses, and cabs from the station seems like a worthwhile move, a 40 year plan to ban oil in cars seems a little misguided.

No GC, I don't think any country grants assylem for economic reasons. I am just glad that we don't have a world government.

A 40-year plan to ban the production or sale of new fossil-fuel running cars doesn't seem that unreasonable to me.

As a comparison, how many people do you know that drive 1971 or older manufactured cars? That's a 40 year span. All they need to do is switch over the next 10 years to hybrid vehicles, move it to PHVs after that, then switching to electric only should be easy.

EU often gets these smart ideas that turn not to be implementable so they back out later :)

Like renewable fuel goals which are impossible to reach

    Agreed.

Talk is cheap and the EU likes to talk!

Laudable goal, but I wonder how much pollution and GHG reduction they will actually get from EVs. They have to clean up the grid in concert with the transport changes.

phev's still use oil. The switch to 100% electric is not that straight forward. I did help restore a 1968 caddy convertable and a 64 1/2 mustang. These don't drive many miles, but I would hate for them to hit the junk heap. There are pathways to get rid of oil, but economies by the EU or Russia or china rarely go as planned. Is it all hydrogen now, I can't remember. What if the cool new technology is algae grown bio diesel fed by the co2 coming out of a power plant?
