I commute from the San Ramon Valley to Oakland every day. (HWY 24) This involves going up a hill, through a tunnel, then back down again. The problem is that when I go up the hill, I cannot get the car to use up the battery charge. Then when I start going down, it goes to all green bars almost immediately, then I know it is wasting some of the electric energy it could be storing in the batteries. I wish I could make it drain the battery more when I go up the hill.

Will and EV switch help with this? I don't think it would.

Any suggestions? Did I explain this correctly? BTW this all happens at freeway speeds.

I don't think it will. IIRC, the EV mode won't even come on if the battery is full green.

If you drive at <34mph up that hill then the potential exists for you to use the EV button that way...but it won't make a huge impact on your FE.
