What are thoughts on the extended warranty and pre-paid maintenance for the Prius c?

I sprung for both of them. Not sure it was the best decision but at the time it seemed to make sense. The extended warranty (7 years/75k) miles was $700 and the pre-paid maintenance (5yrs/55k miles) was 600. That's 11 oil changes and all of the routine maintenance at recommended intervals.

    Thoughts?

With Toyota's reliability history w the Prius and there being such little maintenence plus getting two years free maintenence, I didn't think it was worth it. But, sometimes a piece of mind is good especially when spending 20+ grand on a vehicle so I wouldn't stress about it.

ok, thanks. In retrospect I probably should have passed up the maintenance but oh well. It's not the end of the world. I was a little mentally exhausted after everything else - it's like an interrogation session ("SURE I'LL SIGN WHATEVER, JUST LET ME OUT OF HERE!")

It was my first time buying at a dealership.

I got the Platinum warranty for my C 2. I wasn't going to but since this is the first year for the car it gave me piece of mind. I had lifetime oil changes with my 2005 Prius and they gave me that too.

I declined both. With an extended warranty, you have THREE years to decide on purchasing one. You are better off saving the cash in the interim and investing it in precious metals or something (the ROI will be much greater). :)

    Opt Out!

You can do it, and you should do it.

    Nuff said. ;)
