I found this part in my new '05 Prius. I don't want to discard it in case it is something important. It looks like it may be a "flap" of some sort. I am attaching two pictures of it, in case someone can help me identify it.

BTW, I love this car. This forum is the greatest.

I believe that is the rigid plastic tray that divides the glove compartment. Check and you will find four plastic tabs inside on which to rest it.

To be more specific, the upper glove compartment divider...slides right in the slots.

Here's a piece of advice. Some people, including myself, have experienced plastic-on-plastic rattling of this shelf. What I've done is take black electrical tape and tightly cover the runners on the sides of the glovebox. Actually, you can cut the tape in half longways since the runners aren't that wide. This creates a tighter fit between the shelf and the glovebox walls. The black tape is virtually invisible and its rubbery properties eliminate the rattles.

I wondered about that plastic not-tray also. It would seem to form-fit over the HUD mirror or the display itself.

Maybe to protect from dust and scratches during shipping.
