The more I read about the new Prius, the more impressed I am! It seems like there are some significant innovations with the new model.

    • It became more powerful while seeing a ~10% jump in efficiency.
    • The cruise control adjusts speed according to the car in front of you and has collision detection.
    • The power usage is always displayed in the dash, not just the MFD.
    • There is an EV mode.
    • Solar panels on the roof run the AC to help keep your car cool during the day.
    • The wraparound center console looks enticing, especially if that compartment holds my .MP3 player!

    What's your favorite innovation?

I can confirm that the drivers side has a height adjustable seat and the steering colomn telescopes in and out. The seat also goes back further. It is a tremendous improvement.

One of my favorite things isn't really an innovation, but I will be glad that I can get one... a sunroof. Even better that it has solar panels.

Does anyone know if the fuel tank has the rubber bladder?

I believe the rubber bladder has been replaced by a plastic tank and vent seal, but I'm not 100% certain. This is one DH and I discussed, but there is a small chance that we are wrong.

Anyone else catch the auto lock/unlock of the doors? I'm not 100% sure if the doors lock in motion, but shifting into park will unlock the doors.

Also, the NAV screen warning automatically bypasses after 5 seconds. W00t!

Another neat touch was the small LED light above that "shone" down upon the shifter knob for greater visibility at night.

Did anyone who attended ask what is the size/capacity of the gas tank/bladder in the 2010? How cool if they ent up to say a useable 14 gallons and we can expect realistic 700 mile tanks...

Now that would be great but will it be like that in the production model for usre or was it just set up like that since it was a 'show' car?

All the new Toyota navi's have this 5 sec bypass. The Gen4 Navi is very friendly. You can check it out tomorrow on the new Venza.

No need to check it, I beleive ya' and that's cool; I didn't know they had gotten rid of the stupid confirmation. Really, it was such an un-necessary thing to do...

Do you know if you are able to alter the destination while moving in the 2010?

I have Chief Engineer Akihiko Otsuka saying, "No, it's a new one."
Someone in the crowd asks, "No bladder?"
    Otsuka smiles and nods.
    There was much rejoicing.

I do not have any video editing software or I would clip out just that piece. Perhaps if I'm nice to my wife she'll let me use her MacBook.

My 08 has the bypass. I had an 06 IS250 that had the agree button, that was a pain, although I would use the little hack and get to use the navigation while the vehicle was in motion.

    Hi All,

My favorite feature has to be the exhaust heat recovery system. Needed in cars for years.

The console looks like a sore knee to me. Not anything close to enticing.

I heard the new Prius has daytime running lights. Does it also have auto-on headlights?

No auto-on headlights. The DRL's are down in the facia and are amber in color.

You guys will get auto-headlights. If anyone noticed the symbols on the headlight switch, it's a "o" not "OFF". A "o" means auto (without having a separate AUTO position like we do on the current Canadian-spec Prius).

If you're not sure what I mean, check out the 09 Corolla XLE.

Hmmm, could be undesirable in certain insecure locations! It can probably be turned off, but I guess since there is no more MFD, all hope that adjusting settings like these was moved from 'you have to be a contortionist' to 'easy to use MFD screens' is lost.
They think people will have trouble FINDING the shifter? geez.
