File List button grayed out.

    I listen to long mp3 podcasts burned to a cd in my 2008 Prius (non-DVD). The file list button in the upper right corner of the screen is often grayed out. Occasionally it lights up and I can use it but most of the time I can't. What's going on here?

    It's a safety feature. If the car is moving then the driver should look at the road, not the file list. :)

    You will notice that Toyota locks out many features when the vehicle is in motion. Think of it as their insurance against lawsuits.

    I didn't think of that. Sometimes it works when the car is in montion though and not when it is parked.

    I wish the system used the info it gets about passenger seat occupancy (for air bag activation) and didn't grey it out when a passenger is there to fly the audio portion of our voyage.

    Only at low speed. Once you get above a certain speed all of the fun things are locked out.
